Position: System Administrator / Software Developer

Primary Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, monitor, and maintain UNIX systems on dedicated hardware, as well as cloud computing (specifically Amazon EC2).
• Install and maintain hardware.
• Configure and maintain DNS for client based web applications and internal networks
• Configure and maintain firewalls.
• Assist in the care and feeding of our eCommerceplatform application, which utilizes Apache, PostgreSQL, and ModPerl.
• Work with Senior and Peer Network/System Administrators.
• Work in accordance with technical direction from the Senior Network/System Administrator, and the Development and Operations Manager.
• Work with, and in support of, application developers and data base administrator (DBA).

Secondary Responsibilities:

• Software Application Development to support our eCommerce platform MaxEXP
• Windows desktop/server management.
• PCI vulnerability assessment and compliance.
• Email Spam Protection and IMAP support

Required Skills / Achievements:

• Experience in website design and development required
• Expert level experience with Front-End Web development utilizing HTML, HTML5, CSS, strong JavaScript, and JavaScript Frameworks
• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Considerable knowledge of UNIX, particularly FreeBSD but also CentOS.
• Experience or considerable understanding of Cloud Hosting (specifically Amazon EC2).
• Understanding of Web Standards (XHTML, XML, XSL and Web Services).
• Ability to communicate to all levels of users (internal and external).
• Strong skills in planning and managing to a schedule.
• Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
• Ability to take ownership of tasks and deliver quality results with modest direction.
• Strong problem solving skills - adaptable, proactive.
• Good work ethic and attitude.
• Perl application development.
• 7+ years of experience with designing, architecture, and implementing enterprise applications and systems
• 5+ years of experience with designing IT architectures, including various storage solutions from major vendors
• 3+ years of experience with supporting virtualization environments, including VMware
• Demonstrable experience with cloud based technologies and a thorough understanding of the three basic cloud computing models in use today (IaaS, PaaS and SaaS).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent presentation skills
• Previous ecommerce platform experience.
• Strong commitment to quality, architecture and documentation
