Supporting Servers
All site hosted by San Diego Media will have the benefit of utilizing the EMC Network Attached Storage and Alteon Load Balancing.
The EMC is a dedicated network file server optimized for high performance file access. The EMC replaces tens of independent Windows or Unix file servers, dramatically lowering operational and maintenance time. The Alteon Load Balancer balances the traffic load across multiple mirrored servers and helps site performance. Load balancers enhance security by enabling a myriad of security features such as access lists and port filtering. For instance, you can easily configure the devices to allow only hosts from secured addresses to connect. Another major function of security is the protection of the servers themselves. Hiding Web servers on a private network and using NAT requires users to go through the load balancer before attaching to the Web servers.

MANAGED SERVICES
Managed Storage Solutions
Backups of the database are done daily. Disk images for each of the unique services are kept on-site and can be installed to bring the device that failed up in less than one hour in most cases; this is geared to illegal access or drive failure.
The web cluster is broken into 2 groups and placed on two separate switches. Each switch is attached to the load balancer, and they are connected together by a gigabit trunk link. This will prevent downtime should a port on the load balancer fail.
Additional web servers can be easily and quickly added to the cluster to increase the sites accessibility and throughput.
Monitoring and Reporting
Monitoring services give you the opportunity to monitor the performance of your system remotely. You know how your solution is operating at all times and understand its overall health. Enhanced Monitoring Services are available for the following:

Certificates - A standard application of the MaxEXP system includes two separate SSL certificates. One certificate is for online order processing and secure information transactions while the other serves to keep any and all content updates and uploads protected against third party eaves dropping and malicious data corruption.
Referrers - Our MaxEXP referrers check is included on every link and every form button throughout any e-Business platform designed with MaxEXP. Using our referrer check we can assure that any and all post and get information submissions are coming from trusted and secure Internet addresses (IPs) with verified HTTP headers.
Log Records - Web site transactions are logged per user (with the users IP address)
Business Centre Function (Exempt User) - This function blocks fraud order transactions by checking credit card numbers or names and check to see if the name or credit card number is listed in the Exempt Users list.
Managed Security Solutions
Every MaxEXP eBusiness solution is secured in several ways to limit un-authorized access. Each machine that sits on the public IP space runs a customized Firewall scheme in the operating system. Open ports on these machines are limited to specific service ports. All other attempts to connect on filtered ports and are logged and filtered.
The individual web servers within the cluster are not accessible directly through the Internet; they can only be accessed through a virtual IP address on the load balancing switch, or from inside the private IP subnet. The external Virtual IP only accepts TCP traffic on specified ports. This helps eliminate the effects of many of the denial of service attacks.
Content for all eBusiness solutions are located on a Network Attached Storage system (EMC NS602). Contents on this system are mounted read-only by the web servers and only the control servers have access to write to it. This protects the content of the Web site by managing all the updates of the code or content through an SSL (Secure Socket Layer) secured device.
The management of site content is handled through the use of SSL Secured web servers, eliminating un-authorized access to the web and database servers through an un-secure user account.
