San Diego Media Launches New Personalization Module for MaxEXP

MaxRecommender San Diego Media has released version 1.0 of MaxRecommender. MaxRecommender is a revenue generating tool that generates product recommendations in strategic areas of MaxEXP sites using advanced algorithms to determine the most likely products that the customer visiting the site will purchase.

Clients with MaxEXP software can plug in recommendations in key areas of their eCommerce sites including product pages, the customer's shopping cart, order confirmation emails and send a page to a friend emails. The recommendations generated are then tailored towards the customers' history, as well as the order history of the entire web site.

The MaxRecommender release is the first of several large deployments geared towards utilizing advanced personalization to generate incremental revenue for MaxEXP clients. The powerful tool also features options to display best selling products and related products allowing for a diverse and unique feature set. For more information, visit MaxEXP features.

Did you know negative product reviews are really a good thing?

Sales Graph According to a study done by Adweek, customers considerably prefer eCommerce sites with ratings and reviews over eCommerce sites without them, however this is only true if there is negative feedback among the reviews. Without negative reviews consumers begin to doubt their validity, as well as their overall trust in the company. Negative reviews are also necessary for consumers during the purchasing process so that they can work through concerns they may have before purchasing. If they don't find answers on your site they will find it somewhere else. So make sure your site's ratings and reviews are as credible as possible by minimizing the number of reviews that your site filters.

Transactional Email Marketing Gaining Momentum

Transactional Email Over the past year more and more marketers are tapping into transactional email marketing as a source for additional revenue and as another means to enhance their 1-to-1 relationships with their customers. Transactional emails, such as order and shipping confirmations, backordered notifications and account updates, offer a unique opportunity for marketers to promote up-sell and cross-sell offers by including personalized, dynamic messaging within these emails. Jupiter Research estimates that companies can add up to $500,000 in incremental revenue by simply adding promotional messaging in transactional emails.

What makes a transactional email so effective? The key is personalization. Promotional messaging in the emails should take into consideration the customer's order history, personal preference and demographics allowing the marketer to design a message that is tailored to that customer. The more relevant the message, the more likely the consumer is to respond.

Holiday Present

Marketing Tips for the Holiday Season
The holiday season is here again. Are you ready? Here are a few tips to stay ahead of the competition this year:

  1. Offer free shipping - In 2006 free shipping was the primary motivating factor leading to a purchase. This trend is expected to continue in 2007.
  2. Implement a gift guide on your site - Customers both anticipate and expect to see gift suggestions/guides on all web sites during the holiday season. Make sure to capitalize on this opportunity!
  3. Add holiday keywords to gift pages - During fourth quarter the number of holiday related search terms sky rockets. Popular terms include "Christmas", "Hanukkah" and "holiday gift". Increase your traffic by adding these and other terms to your meta tags and site content.
